Turin Wakepark is now hosting the European Youth & Senior Championships

After 6 years from Milan 2018, the European Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championship of the IWWF (International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation) returns to Italy from 26 to 31 August. The competition is organized with the Italian FISSW Federation (Italian Water Ski, Surf and Wakeboard Federation) in collaboration with Fissw Servizi, and will be hosted by one of the most beautiful and renowned wakeparks in Italy : the Turin Wakepark.

Located in Frazione Mezzi Po, Settimo Torinese (TO), the Turin Wakepark stands on the waters of Lake Machi Pachi and, to date, is one of the fixed destinations for those, from the area and beyond, who want to spend a day of sport and relaxation, also given the many alternative activities to the cable wakeboarding that can be done within the area.

The Turin Wakepark, thanks to the state-of-the-art sports facilities, the care for the environment and the professionalism of the staff,
is considered by all Italian and foreign enthusiasts to be one of the most beautiful places to practice cable wakeboarding and wakeskate, disciplines that are increasingly widespread at an international level, and which is why the International Federation has decided to organize the European Championship 2024 in this location. the first time in two decades, IWWF Europe & Africa Cable Wakeboard, Wakeskate and Seated Open Championships are back in the United-Kingdom.

Another reason why Italy was chosen to host the event is the fact that it is one of the most talented national teams at an international level, always winning several medals and is often rewarded with team gold in this type of event.

Going into more detail about the competition, the European Championship will be dedicated to the cable wakeboard and wakeskate
categories for both men and women called “Youth & Senior”, namely : Under 11 (mini Boys and mini Girls), Under 14 (Boys and Girls), Under 18 (Junior Ladies and Junior Men), Over 30 (Masters Ladies and Master Men) and Over 40 (Veterans Ladies and Veterans Men). The participants registered for the competition are called by their federations to represent their nation and this year there are around 200 registered, coming from 20 nations.

Given the prestige of the event, like every international competition, the Opening Ceremony of the European Championship will be organized on the evening of the first day of competition, which will see the parade of the participating teams in uniform with the flags of their nations, the presentation of the federations, the most important partners, the
organizers, the judges and the teams.

In our case, given the sponsorship of the Piedmont Region and the Municipality of Settimo Torinese, the Opening Ceremony of the European Championship will take place in Piazza della Libertà, in front of the Town Hall, on the evening of August 26th from 7.00 pm onwards. Afterwards the teams will be free to dine and move around as they prefer and this can represent an excellent opportunity for traders and catering businesses to offer their services, keeping their businesses open to welcome the many
participants.

Furthermore, considering that most of the riders are minors, there will also be a large number of companions, relatives and staff with the athletes and this, also given the previous experiences in other countries, allows us to estimate the number of those present on the evening of August 26th and throughout the comp week to around 400 people in addition to the public.
