Whitemills 2024 : success in Great-Britain
On Sunday, June 30th, IWWF Europe & Africa Cable Wakeboard, Wakeskate and Seated Open Championships crowned six new champions for 2024 in Whitemills, Sandwich (GB) !
- In Wakeskate Ladies : the girls are really consistent to say the least ! Indeed the podium is exactly the same as last year in Le Kable, Choisy-le-Roi (France) although some more tricks were added to the show : Juliet Boura (FRA) third, Ane Armas (SPA) second and wakeskate queen Telma Cester (SPA).
- In Wakeskate Men : Yohan Nilias (FRA) picked up his first major title in front of Max Alfons Keller (GER) and Maurizio Marassi (ITA). With a first run already winning he still managed to raise the level even more on his second run with a 93.00 score just to make sure he was the very best on this day.
- In Seated Ladies : Inge Nys (BEL) grabbed gold for the second time in a row as this category was opened for the very first time in Europeans last year – followed by Hannah Tomsett (GB) second as it was her first time representing Great-Britain in cable wakeboarding after getting another silver medal in slalom at the World Disabled Waterski Championships in California and Barbara Van Bergen (NETH) in bronze.
- In Seated Men : Vincent Salcher (GER) took the third spot on podium when battle for the title got hard and full of suspense between Bartosz Weselak (POL) and Guillaume Chapelle (FRA) ending with gold for the Frenchman – bronze medalist last year.
- In Wakeboard Ladies : once again Julia Rick (GER) leave no chance to the other girls for the first spot as she get European Champion for the 9th time. Nevertheless next gen is coming up strong with Nicole Regazzo (ITA) silver medalist and Mariella Flemme (AUT) !
- In Wakeboard Men : with only their first run scoring for the six finalists in less than a 20-point range, battle for gold was epic. Local hero Kieran Owens (GB) with a super clean KGB5 took the bronze, when Loic Deschaux (FRA) back from injury showed some great moves to get silver. But current World Champion Max Milde (GER) managed to put four mobe5 airtricks with amazing amplitude to grab his 4th European title.
- In Team results : we got same countries but different order as the previous edition in Paris. Still Team France on top with their second team title in a row, Italy second and Germany third. Host country Great-Britain got the 4th spot.
Both Wakeboard European champions Julia Rick and Max Milde got their tickets guarantee to the World Games 2025 in China. Now to we head to Nona Adventure Park (USA) for the PANAM Confederation Championships starting July, 19th. Then we will go to Italy and Turin for the Youth & Senior categories European Championships late August. For now : a big big thanks to local hosts Whitemills Wake & Aqua Park managers and staff who brought amazing work and welcomed everyone the best way in Sandwich, Kent.
