Cable wakeboarding will be in Chengdu for The World Games

We already have some information about cable wakeboarding appearing for the second time in history in The World Games after Duisburg in 2005. Of course, earning points by taking part in the IWWF registered events in 2024 will be even more crucial this year to have a chance and make it to this prestigious event that will take place from 7th to 17th August 2025 in Chengdu, China.

Cable Wakeboard – Qualifying Criteria

Maximum 30 Athletes (15 Men & 15 Women)

There will be a maximum of 2 x riders from any NOC in each gender, made up as follows:

  • IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Champions – 1 x male & 1 x female (total 2 x riders)
  • IWWF Confederation Champions – up to 3 x male & 3 x female (total 6 x riders)
  • Top riders from the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Rankings List as follows:
    • 3 x male & 3 x female from the IWWF European & African Region (total 6 x riders)
    • 3 x male & 3 x female from the IWWF Asian & Oceanian Region (total6 x riders)
    • 3 x male & 3 x female from the IWWF Pan American Region (total 6 x riders)
  • 2 x male & 2 x female from the host country (total 4 x riders)

In the event that IWWF Confederation Champions cannot attend the World Games 2025 or are the 2024 IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Champions, then the riders who placed 2nd and 3rd at the 2024 IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Championships will automatically be invited. If one of the top 3 riders (male & female) from IWWF Confederation Championships are unable to attend, then the place will be awarded to the next best ranked rider on the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Rankings list regardless of their respective confederation.

All remaining riders considered for qualification for the World Games 2025 must have participated in the 2024 IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Championships (an exception for injured riders with valid medical certificates).

All riders invited from the confederation rankings list should not be placed any lower than 5th place. If riders are exhausted from these rankings lists, they will then be selected from the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Ranking list regardless of their respective confederation.

Should the number of riders decrease, the split will be as follows:

  • 2024 IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Champions (1 x male & 1 female)
  • IWWF Confederation Champions (up to 3 x male & 3 x female)
  • 2 x riders from the host country (1 x male & 1 x female)

The remaining number of riders from each confederation will be based on the top riders from the IWWF World Cable Wakeboard Rankings List.

Qualifications for the World Games 2025 ends 31st March 2025
